Chrysler minivan gets swivelling seats

March 2007

Intier Automotive Seating has worked with Chrysler to develop removable swivelling seats for its minivan range.

The Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country will feature second-row seats that swivel 180° to face the third-row seats. The seats also include a removable table that installs between the second- and third-row seats.

“Consumers are spending more and more time in their vehicles, placing a greater emphasis on comfort and convenience,” said Intier Seating chief engineer Jeff Lambert. ”This ‘Swivel n Go’ seating creates a family room on wheels.”

To enhance the minivans, Chrysler and Intier also developed a powered version of its fold-in-the-floor third-row seat. With a touch of a button, the seat stows away in less than 15 seconds.

An obstacle-detection system stops the seat from folding people or objects with it.
