Trelleborg's new elastomer cuts out the noise

5 May 2009

Materials group Trelleborg Automotive says that its new Noise-Free Rubber material can cut noise in components such as anti-roll bar isolators, suspension bushings and engine mounts.

The material is a self-lubricated, low-friction rubber formulation that has been engineered to meet fatigue demands, with a durability 50 per cent greater than conventional rubber materials.

Wade Singler, technical manager at Trelleborg Automotive, said: "Thanks to its ability to lower the coefficient of friction of the rubber surface, sound that would otherwise be produced when rubber meets painted or other rubber surfaces is prevented."
